Today, the city burns once again.

"How many died today?"

"How many still live?"

A boy asked himself, covered in tattered clothes and dirty hair unwashed for months, maybe a year. He stepped forward; his rough feet trembled with each step. His body seemed to have reached its limits as he slowly closed his eyes to listen.

The sound of screams, wails of terror and the explosion of buildings spread around him. He shuddered as the last bastion of hope fell to the demons. He felt a single teardrop too many lost in his life to have anything more than this.

The demons mercilessly attacked and destroyed all traces of humanity they could find.

"Will I scream like that when I die?"

A man's high-pitched voice sounded from the boy's side. He ignored his family as they beheaded his daughter and abandoned his wife to flee in terror alone.

"Can I blame her for running? What else could she do?"

The demon brutes ripped apart the man and woman. Running never mattered.

"See?"

A boy with long hair looked towards the horde of demons. These brutes killed everything he held dear.

He walked towards them, only with the desire to protect the girl with white wings that shivered behind him and the woman with tanned skin and beautiful white rabbit ears.

Rika, his first companion, the first pet he tamed and raised into a humanoid.

"I cannot let you perish here, Rika, by the terms of our contract. I grant thee freedom. Return to your peaceful world as your summoner… I release you!"

The beautiful white-haired woman with tight muscles cried out, rushing towards him. She pushed him forward as a white pentagram formed at her feet.

Before she could disappear.

A massive club smashed into her body, shattering the pentagram and sending her bloody body flying into the air and crashing onto the ground with a loud thud.

His beloved lynx died so quickly and crushed his last sense of reason.

A sense of despair quickly filled his body, yet faced with certain death, shedding tears was too much of a luxury. His hands shuddered, clutched tightly, as blood seeped from his hands, "Rika....everyone...You're all gone... God damn...it...!"

His eyes became dull, lips trembling as he forced his shattered heart to keep beating. There was still someone to save... No matter how impossible it felt!

"Rika... I..."

The boy shook his head, then turned towards the little girl with a fake smile filled with confidence. Scars, dirt, and wounds ruined his handsome face.

"Little girl, I don't know your name. But I will fight until you can at least escape… So! Run!"

A burst of flames swirled around his body. The brute demons, numbered over a dozen, rushed towards him with their sharp teeth, drooling mouths, and enormous weapons that could crush him instantly.

"Let the wings of flame grant my will! [Flame Cutter]!"

With the flick of his wrist and snapped fingers, his flames swirled in a disk, tearing through all the demons' wings.

As they approached, the ground shook, and his boots vibrated.

But he smiled…

"I'm coming to you... Rika..."

Because he saved the girl and would join his beloved Rika soon.

He achieved his goal as the flames died out in their turbid winds. His middle fingers raised towards the demon brutes.

"Fuckers! Try flying with no wings! I swear to get my reve…."

The demon sliced across the boy's neck with a force that crushed his skull into dust. In anger, the demons tore apart his corpse.

Moments later, divine brilliance shot down on them in a massive barrage. A woman with eight white wings and a sad face stood in the light.

"Very well. You saved my sister's life! Achieve your heartfelt desire! May the Lord protect thy soul!"
