Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 295: V6C28

I was returning from the library after collecting the name list of our class from the librarian. Since our results were to be announced the next day, our homeroom teacher wanted the records of all the students.

While walking past Shiraishi class, I could hear the noise of the students chattering inside. I was about to glance inside their class, but it caught me off-guard as I felt someone hold my hand and tug it backwards.

Looking over my shoulder, I noticed the figure of Shiraishi standing there with a cheeky smile on her face.

It was weird. Especially after how she has been acting for the past few days. After ignoring my texts and avoiding me at school since that incident, she decides to suddenly act like everything was fine?

Nothing was making sense.

My plan seemed to have failed big time.

I looked at her as she had a genuine smile on her face while her eyes were piercing through me. Turning around, I said, "Hi?"

"Hi? That's how you greet me?" She said, puffing up her cheeks as I cleared my throat and replied, "Um… my bad. What are you doing though?"

"Nothing much, I was just roaming in the hallway since I've nothing else to do." She replied with an awkward smile. I glanced over at her class and nodded. "It's your free period, I suppose?"

"Yeah, we had PE, but the teacher is absent."

"That's some bad luck."

"I know right!"

"By the way Saishi…" She said a bit slowly while staring at me, curious to build up tension between us. I knew she was up to something, so I nodded, "Yea?"

"Wanna come with me for a moment?" She said as her eyes shifted towards the hallway behind me. With a sharp nod, I replied, "But I have a class to attend to."

It wasn't like I was interested in the class.

I needed an excuse to get away from her at that moment. I wasn't expecting her to act like that so I was really confused and needed some time to comprehend what was happening.

"Oh god! You're such a mister goody show." She said while rolling her eyes as she started walking while dragging me along with her.

"But…" I opened my mouth to protest, but it was in vain. She just glared at me and said in a slow yet commanding tone, "Shut up and come with me!"

"Jeez, you're kidnapping me." I said, accepting my defeat. There was no point in arguing with her in the middle of the hallway about something so silly.

"You can say so." She said with a smile and asked, "What class did you have, by the way?"

"Physics."

I had physics class, and our teacher was going to show us an interesting topic.

And I was also getting kidnapped by my own girlfriend in broad daylight.

Tough luck on my side.

"Oh… you're so dead." She chuckled while the hand was still in mine, and she was walking in front of me. She seemed quite persistent about this. I sighed and said, "Nah, I'll just give an excuse."

Well, it wasn't like I was actually skipping the class.

I paced up a bit and started walking alongside her. Her hand slipped from mine as she gazed at me. Her eyes slowly shifted towards my right hand, as she asked, "What are those bunch of papers in your hand though?"

"Ah… they're the class record. I've to hand it over to my homeroom teacher." I replied, as a surprised look formed on her face.

"You do stuff like this too?"

"Like what?"

"You know… like this helping teacher and all."

"Ahh… I don't want to but Ms Tachibana tries to hurl all the work on me." I said with an awkward smile, as she narrowed her eyes and asked, "You're the class representative, I suppose?"

Girls sure do jump to conclusions.

(A/N: I've a dark joke to make, if you want to hear then comment below ;)

"You think someone like me could be the class representative?" I asked, trying my best not to laugh. She just gave me a shrug, "Why not?"

I knew where the conversation was going. So I quickly changed the topic and told her who the real class representative was, "Nah, it's my friend. He is the class representative."

Since we were roaming around, I decided to head towards the teacher's office and hand those papers over to Ms Tachibana. We were closing in towards the staircase as she said, "You're quite a reliable guy too."

"I… guess?" I was caught off guard by her sudden compliment. She was acting so weird that I was at a complete loss. Looking at my expression, she added with a smile, "You might not realise it, but you are."

We were walking down the stairs as I was walking in front of her. I turned around to ask something, "How come…"

But I was greeted with her soft lips crashing into mine as I stood still in that moment, trying to comprehend what was happening. My eyes shifted towards her, but her eyes were shut tight.

Since she was standing on the stairs above me, she appeared to be the same height as me. Even though she was kissing me at that moment, my mind had a lot of questions running wild inside.

What the actual fuck!?

As she was moving away slowly, I noticed her eyes slowly open. She was so close to me that I could see my reflection in ember voids. She had quite a bashful look on her face.

In my peripheral vision, I caught a silhouette standing on top of the staircase.

"This is to thank you for that day.

"I was so happy when I saw you next to me. I wasn't expecting that you'd come…" Her voice trailed off as my focus wasn't on her at all.

I was trying to make out who was standing on top of the staircase. The light from the windows behind made it impossible for me to see who it was.

Narrowing my eyes towards them, our eyes met for a tiny instance. Putting his hands in his pocket, he walked off with what I could make out as a smile on his face.

What was with that smile?

And who was that?
