The villain's side of the novel

49 Lionar kingdom---1---

After a week had passed, rumors about the city of Iskar and the Parada family had spread like wildfire across the continent. Unfortunately, most of these rumors were far from positive. People spoke of high taxes, exorbitant prices, and strange currency practices. However, the rumor that infuriated everyone who heard it was the one claiming that the Parada family possessed a solution to the continent's food shortages. Instead of sharing this solution with the rest of humanity and saving countless lives, they chose to keep it a secret and exploit it for their own benefit.

Meanwhile, in the grand halls of Parada Palace, Anas Parada stood respectfully in front of a massive wooden desk, delivering a report to Fray Parada. Anas conveyed the news that the city's food shortages had finally been resolved. The prices of all food products had been reduced by more than half, allowing even the lower classes of Iskar City's population to access quality nutrition.

Fray, seated in a luxurious chair on the other side of the desk, listened to Anas's report while engrossed in several paper documents. One of the reports detailed Giam's efforts in expanding the fishing areas of Iskar's waters. The number of monsters in the waters had been significantly reduced, leading to a larger fishing territory. Though it was still small compared to the vast sea surrounding Iskar City, it marked a promising start. Fray continued to delve into his research on Don's body, seeking to apply his bloodline skills into runes. With this skill, Iskar City would have better control over sea monsters, minimizing their threat. Additionally, the organic fertilizer had exceeded all expectations. Harnessing the energy present in the air of this world, it yielded even better results than the fertilizer in Yassine's world. As a result, Iskar City's agricultural productivity had increased by an astonishing 439% within this short period.

"Now, we have a surplus of fertilizer," Anas said, with a hint of excitement. "I believe it is time to initiate the export process. We have received numerous favorable offers from interested cities."

"No, not yet," Fray responded curtly, momentarily setting aside one document to retrieve another.

The document in Fray's hands contained a report from Idar. Although large-scale extraction had not commenced, Idar had managed to extract a substantial amount of energy crystals in recent days. Leveraging the Prada Commercial Hall, he swiftly sold the majority of the stock due to the overwhelming demand. This success had replenished the treasury of the Commercial Hall, compensating for the funds spent on purchasing the mine.

After perusing the report, Fray placed it carefully on the desk and turned towards Anas. He extended a weighty folder towards him, declaring, "This is the business plan for fertilizer exports. You and Idar will oversee this project."

Anas received the folder with a sense of doubt, wondering why a fertilizer export would necessitate such an extensive business plan. Intrigued, he decided to read the first chapter, which provided a summary of the plan. As he laid his eyes on the summary, he couldn't help but widen them in astonishment.

("Is he intending to control the food productivity of the entire continent?") Anas thought, glancing at Fray, who seemed engrossed in another document. Anas had always believed that intelligence posed a greater threat than mere strength. Observing Fray, he felt a genuine fear of the man he had considered an enemy just a month prior.

"Very well, you may leave," Fray said without diverting his attention from the documents in front of him.

"Of course, sir. Goodbye," Anas replied respectfully before swiftly exiting the office.

Left alone, Fray delved

back into his work. He had numerous paperwork to complete before departing for the Lionar Kingdom, where a colossal crisis was set to unfold in the coming days. In the original novel, this event would impact the entire human continent, resulting in significant losses. While the protagonist would attempt to intervene, the disaster could not be fully prevented. At best, its consequences could be mitigated. Initially, Fray had no intention of interfering with the events of the novel. He possessed a means to address the disaster's effects, ensuring the safety of Iskar City. However, his plans had taken an unexpected turn upon discovering that Luke had deviated from the original narrative and come to Iskar City to deal with the dungeon. The implications of this alteration were beyond Fray's predictions. If Luke failed to neutralize the disaster's power, the consequences for humanity could be dire, possibly leading to its extinction. Reluctantly, Fray had no choice but to intervene.

Suddenly, a knock on the door disrupted Fray's thoughts. "Come in," he called out.

Montaser entered the room, announcing, "Sir, everyone is ready to go. Are you prepared?"

"Yes, I am. Let us proceed," Fray responded, placing the documents on his desk before rising from his chair to follow Montaser.

During their journey, Fray and Montaser discussed various pending tasks that Montaser would oversee in Fray's absence. Eventually, they reached the first floor of the palace, where they encountered an unexpected figure standing near the inner palace gate.

"Mother?" Fray uttered briefly, his gaze fixed on a beautiful woman with dark black hair, accompanied by her maid.

"I heard you are embarking on another mission," Isabel spoke softly, her eyes averted and her movements strained.

Confusion clouded Fray's mind as he observed Isabel's peculiar behavior. He couldn't help but wonder what was happening.

"Are you here to request Erma's release again?" Fray inquired, his mind reaching the only logical conclusion after witnessing Isabel's actions.

"Oh, no, not at all. I just wanted to wish you good luck on your mission," Isabel stammered, forcing herself to meet Fray's gaze.

Fray and even Montaser were taken aback by Isabel's words. It felt as if they were caught in a dream, but Fray quickly composed himself as a particular realization settled in.

("It must be another elaborate strategy to persuade me to release Erma," Fray thought, refusing to believe that Isabel's farewell held genuine intentions. He vividly recalled the way his mother had looked at him when he needed her most. Thus, Fray responded in an emotionless tone, "Thank you."

With that, he dismissed Isabel's presence, continuing his path toward the outer palace door, where Adam and others awaited him beside a large white portal.

Meanwhile, Isabel lingered there for a long while, her eyes fixed on the sky, brimming with tears, her maid Nesrin standing faithfully by her side.
